I Didn’t Create The Somatic Medium Because I Had It All Figured Out

- My Story
There was a time when I was afraid of my own body.
My emotions felt too big.
My mind never stopped racing.
I worried about everything.
The sensations in my body were so loud that I spent years trying to escape them—to numb them, distract myself from them, or push them away altogether.
I truly believed something was wrong with me. Maybe I was just too sensitive. Too emotional. Too much. Too weak. Looking back now, I realize none of those things were true. The truth was much simpler. I just didn’t feel safe in my own body.
Anxiety became my normal.
For years, anxiety and I were inseparable. I couldn’t go anywhere without worrying. I anticipated the worst-case scenario before almost everything I did because I believed that if I prepared for the worst, maybe it wouldn’t hurt so much when it happened.
Eventually, I wasn’t living anymore. I was surviving. Every decision felt overwhelming; even the smallest experiences felt enormous. My mind was constantly scanning for danger.
I struggled to trust myself.
I struggled to use my voice.
Setting boundaries felt terrifying because I believed speaking up might cost me the people I loved. Without realizing it, I had stopped being my own safe place.
Eventually, my body stopped asking for help.
It started demanding it. My nervous system became so overwhelmed that I ended up in the hospital multiple times every year. Doctors searched for answers. I tried medication after medication. Some helped temporarily. Many created new symptoms of their own.
For a long time, I felt like I was chasing answers that no one could give me. That wasn’t because the healthcare system failed me. It simply wasn’t looking in the place that ultimately changed everything for me, so I started looking somewhere else.
I immersed myself in holistic nutrition, then Reiki, then yoga; each one gave me something valuable. Each one helped me reconnect with another piece of myself.
But something still felt incomplete. I was collecting tools without understanding the system they were trying to support.
Then I discovered somatic healing, and everything finally started to make sense.
For the first time, I learned that my body wasn’t working against me; It was trying to protect me. My anxiety wasn’t proof that I was broken. My body wasn’t my enemy. It had simply been carrying years of stress in the only way it knew how.
Instead of asking: “How do I make this feeling go away?” , I began asking: “What is my body trying to tell me?”
That single shift changed my life.
Healing didn’t begin when my anxiety disappeared.
It began when I learned how to stay with myself. At first, that looked like sitting with difficult emotions for a few seconds longer than I thought I could. Learning how to breathe. Learning how to regulate. Learning how to comfort myself instead of abandoning myself. Eventually…those difficult emotions stopped feeling so terrifying.
Then curiosity replaced fear. I began understanding why my body responded the way it did. I stopped fighting myself, And for the first time in my life… I started feeling safe.
Safety changed everything.
When I felt safe inside myself, I started trusting myself. I learned how to set boundaries. I learned how to use my voice. I learned that disappointing someone else wasn’t the end of the world. I learned that I could survive uncomfortable conversations. I learned that I could hold myself through uncertainty instead of trying to control it.
I wasn’t becoming someone new. I was becoming the version of myself that had been buried underneath survival for years.
Fifteen years taught me something I’ll never forget.
I spent over fifteen years exploring both conventional healthcare and the wellness world. Looking back… I don’t regret any of it. Every experience taught me something.
But if someone had taught me earlier what I now know about stress, the nervous system, and the relationship between the mind and body… I could have spent far less time wondering what was wrong with me. Because there was never anything wrong with me- There was simply a body that didn’t yet know it was safe.
Why I created The Somatic Medium.
The world asks an enormous amount of our nervous systems. We’re surrounded by constant stimulation, endless information, social media, screens, financial pressure, busier schedules than ever before, at the same time…
We’ve also never had more healing advice. Meditate, journal, breathwork, supplements, cold plunges, yoga, read another book, listen to another podcast. There are so many wonderful tools available.
But knowing where to begin can feel overwhelming. I’ve lived that confusion. That’s why The Somatic Medium exists. Not to tell you which healing path is “right”, but to help you understand yourself well enough that you’ll know which path is right for you.
There has never been anything wrong with you.
One of the biggest intentions behind The Somatic Medium is to normalize what you’re experiencing. To help you understand that your body isn’t trying to sabotage you, It’s trying to protect you.
Together, we’ll explore healing through the mind, body, nervous system, subconscious, and energy—because true healing happens when we stop treating ourselves as separate parts and begin caring for ourselves as a whole person.
This isn’t about becoming fearless. It’s about becoming your own protector, learning to trust yourself enough to set the boundary. Speak the truth, feel the emotion, rest without shame, grieve without believing you’re broken, move through uncertainty knowing you won’t abandon yourself.
Because when you become your own safe place- life opens up again.
Your body no longer feels like something you have to fight, It becomes somewhere you can finally come home to.
Welcome to The Somatic Medium.
It isn’t here to tell you what healing should look like. It’s here to help you understand yourself well enough to discover what healing looks like for you.
I’m so glad you’re here.
